Pumpkin Growers BlogJune 23, 2008I can definately see roots now. The poor things are getting crowded out by their brothers. Time to put them in a bigger pot, lest they strangle themselves. The sunlight really helped them. It was funny, when I came home... they were all leaning toward the window where the sun had shone in at the morning. They are very green now. One of them is really tall... I guess he is their leader. Well, I put few more sprinkles of water on the roots and peet and then we'll move them tomorrow. June 24, 2008 The transplant has been done. Each of the seedlings have grown their roots into the netting. And each other. I think next time I need to only put in one seed per peet pod. Just about every one of them grew. So, I go to start pulling back the netting and the damn roots start ripping out of the stems. Augh! Not sure if the poor little seedlings will survive. I tried to seperate them as best I could but I think a lot of the little roots on the stems got ripped out. The "leader" isn't looking so hot anymore. I think it is because he is soooo tall. It is starting to flop over. I know that these things are vines, so I hope that the flopping over is an okay thing. Time will tell. I will put them outside for the first time tomorrow so they get the sun's full effect... and hopefully they will bounce back. |
