Not sure what to make of the plants. It seems like the baby leafs that first sprouted are dead or dying. I went into the garden to snip them off. I then looked at the other leaves that are just turning yellow. Hmmm. They appear to be dying. I don't think that the plants are dying, because I see several new leafs budding. The older leaves appear to be dying off.
A few of the second stems appear to be growing roots as well. Maybe the vines to too exposed.
So, to counter this, I got some more topsoil and cow crap and mixed it up to cover the vines. Every plant got a good pile of it to cover things up. After that, I used some Miracle-Gro to try and give some nutrients to the soil. I think that the soil may not be the greatest. I don't see the "take-over" vine action that I was expecting. But then, it is still just about 3 1/2 weeks into the process and a long way to go.
The "leader" still looks weak, but I did see some new leafs budding on him, make he can make it with a good dose of poop.
The group of leftover pumpkin plants down on the compost heap still look very healthy and active. I gave them a dose of Miracle-Gro as well. They might need it since they haven't had much water.
