First Flower Appears!
Flowers! Well, one little flower starting to blossom flower on one plant. But it is there. I was merely inspecting the plants for dying or miscolored leaves when I spotted the flower. It is a female flower, too. The one that turns into pumpkin if nature allows it. But the mere fact that a flower is upon us tells me that it is getting time to prepare for the pumpkins soon. I see several male flower buds springing up on a nearby plant as well. There seem to be a lot of potential suitors for the lone female. But after some more inspecting, I did see a couple more female flower buds appearing. I guess it'll be time to weed 'n' feed this plants again tomorrow. The vines are growing close to the fence. I had to reach in and redirect two of them to point back to the garden. I'd rather not have pumpkins weighting down my fence. I remember when I first set up the garden that I had a distinct path to walk around in; that path is quickly disappearing with all the growth going on. But I'd rather have problems like this instead of the alternative of dying plants... kind of like the crew on the compost heap... they are clearly malnurished and on there way to joining the compost. Our "leader" is still the runt, but I do see a bud or two on him. Maybe he'll only make one pumpkin, but it'll be the big one.
