In the afternoon of today, I found two more female flowers ready to open right at the fence! These were just little buds yesterday morning. It is amazing how fast this stuff can grow if it wants to. So, I'll be back out tomorrow to ensure that pollination happens. For those of you out there who think that I'm nuts for going to the trouble of pollinating these pumpkin flowers manually, well, so far it has been successful. Each one that I've played 'pollinator' for is growing very well - - Surprise was naturally pollinated and she's looking a lot smaller than Amber, Lisa, and Zelda... who all came after her.
Update on the Leader... well, he's still looking good, but he's doesn't want to make pumpkins. Leader is only going to produce male flowers and I'm okay with that.
